Your children's privacy is our top priority. We collect minimal data, never run ads, and never sell information to anyone. We comply with both GDPR (EU) and COPPA (USA).
The short version
We use your email to create your account. We store the stories you create. We use cookies only for login and language preferences. We never show ads or sell your data. Parents are always in control.
What we collect
Account information
Email address, display name, and encrypted password when you register. Used solely to create and secure your account.
Stories you create
Story scripts, titles, and audio files you generate through our platform. These are linked to your account and only visible to you unless you choose to publish them.
Preferences
Language preference stored in a cookie so we remember your choice between visits. No tracking involved.
What we do NOT collect

No location data — We never collect or store your physical location.

No children's personal data — We don't collect names, photos, or any data directly from children.

No advertising cookies — Zero tracking pixels, no third-party ad networks.

No data selling — Your family's data is never sold to any third party. Ever.
How we use your data
To provide the service
Your account lets you create, save, and play back custom educational stories.
To generate story content
Story topic and age range are sent to AI partners (Anthropic, OpenAI) to generate the script. These partners are bound by strict data processing agreements and do not store personal information.
To generate voice audio
Story text is sent to ElevenLabs for text-to-speech synthesis. ElevenLabs processes this under a data processing agreement and does not link it to personal accounts.
To improve AskOwlo
We analyze aggregated, anonymized usage patterns (not individual behavior) to improve story quality and the overall experience.
Cookies
We use only two essential cookies:
Session cookie
Keeps you logged in securely. Expires when you sign out.
Language preference
Stores your chosen website language (English or Dutch).

AskOwlo BV is based in Amsterdam, Netherlands and complies fully with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Under GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, and export your data at any time.
🇺🇸 COPPA (United States)
AskOwlo complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. Our platform is designed for use by parents and guardians on behalf of children ages 4–12. Children do not create accounts — only adults (18+) do.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information directly, please contact us immediately at team@askowlo.com and we will delete it promptly.
Children's data
We do not collect names, photos, or any personal data directly from children. The account holder (parent or guardian) is always in control. Story topics and listening activity are not linked to any child's identity.
