Our Story
I'm Shreef, a dad in Amsterdam with two kids who never stop asking questions. Beautiful, fascinating, hard-to-answer questions.
"Why do we dream?" "How does gravity work?" "Why do people speak different languages?" Every day, they surprise me with their curiosity.
I'm that parent who fills our home with books—science, stories, encyclopedias—anything to feed their wonder. But here's the thing: I can't buy enough books that can answer all their questions. The internet is a better place for them to explore, search, and discover. But I couldn't let them use the internet without ensuring their safety.
Google? One wrong click and they're on a site with all kinds of ads, content, or rabbit holes I can't control. YouTube? Even kids' channels lead to autoplay nightmares. Every search engine assumes the user is an adult—because the internet wasn't built for children.
So I built them something different. Not a filtered version of the internet—a completely closed garden. A place where they could ask anything, explore freely, and I could sleep at night knowing they're safe. No external links. No ads. No surprises.
AskOwlo started in our Amsterdam home. Now I'm sharing it with families everywhere who want to give their kids the gift of independent curiosity—without the fear.
